Dylan passed away this weekend. There are not enough words in the world to say how much we will miss him and his enthusiasm for comics, creativity and life in general. Last year at APE, Thien moderated a panel about the Bay Area comics scene then and now. Dylan, along with Bay Area comic artists Susie Cagle, Ben Catmull, Andrew Farago and Hellen Jo talked about their beginnings and participation in the indie, small comics community. The interview gives just a tiny glimpse at how influential and important Dylan was to comics and the many lives he touched.

Dylan would post about the Comix Claptrap on the Sparkplug Comics blog. He lovingly compare us to Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis and say that Thien's podcast personality resembled the likes of Henry Rollins, Bill O'Reilly and Alger Hiss. Against his better judgement, he would sometimes actually listen to the show, and say that his favorite parts were when Finn would cry or scream in the background.

Dylan, we love you and we thank you for your heart, laughter and generosity.

or Download the MP3 File

Craig Thompson - Season 4, Episode 2

cover art by Craig Thompson

Exclusives! And, the holidays would never be bright without a chat with our new comics friend, Josh Frankel, despite the fact he depresses us with tales of woe about a certain comics store in Berkeley. Also, Thien shares some interesting ideas for your next Kickstarter project! So, get into the spirit and listen in!

or Download MP3 File

Warren Craghead - Season 3, Episode 5

a page from Warren Craghead's The Surf and The Face

We make one last special guest co-host episode before Thien comes back, and it's a doozy! Rina went on a "tour" for her book, and Thien... well, Thien changed his voice. For this season premiere, we dared to dream big, and our dream actually came true: Mr. Dan Clowes sits down to chat with us on topics ranging from Pogs to coffee shop blind dates. The experience was so mind-numbing, it induced Thien to asthmatic coughing fits. We also kick off Season 3 with yet another Ignatz awards rant and desperate plea to SPX voters by Thien, and reunite with now-veteran New Comics newsie, Ignatz-nominated Josh Frankel. It's an inspiring interview that will make you want to quit everything and start making comics!

Also, Thien, Rina and Josh discuss their experience at the recent bewildering Wondercon in San Francisco.
